Firstly, this case will protect the case and charging port from dust and will likely help keep moisture out (not waterproof, be aware). Secondly, I picked up my AirPods to use for calls out in the dark and the wind (don't ask). Having strong winds on you, or perhaps needing to suddenly run, might cause your AirPods to fall out. At the very least, it will make you feel a little on edge. The little band included with this set will stop them from falling to the ground if they do fall out. Honestly, my situation is very abnormal but if you go jogging, that band will save you the constant fear that they might fall out (you'll worry less in time).The karabina it comes with is good enough and I've taken to attaching some extra things to it to take with me when I go to work.
