None is required. **Q: Lost the instructions, how do you change the batteries?** A: remove 3 phillips head screws, 2 from sides, 1 from bottom. slide off cover. lift battery pack from top rear (close to door). replace 4 aa batteries and reverse process. **Q: Existing lock has deadbolt and handle (used to open door) on one plate. Not sure this would work, since this item has no place for handle. How would this work?** A: You will have to store the existing interior deadbolt/latch plate since it won't work with this application. Your best bet is to buy this deadbolt and purchase a separate interior trim for the lower portion. I supply hardware to builders in my area and this would be my suggestion to their customers. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works with echo plus, you dont have to have the cloud cam. *by on Reviewed in the United States October 13, 2019* Ok, so I was worried that you were required to have the cloud cam in order to use this with the Amazon echo and it's not true, I have the Echo plus which has the built in hub and I was able to pair to with no issues. However if you don't have that you must have some kind of hub, I hear the samsung smart things hub works but I've not tried that. The lock works great and I use the alexa app to unlock and lock from the phone and it doesnt make me wait long. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase, I might purchase the cloud came later on, but its not required if you have a hub device already. ### ⭐ Worked great for about 48 hours..... *by on Reviewed in the United States August 31, 2018* Setup with cloud cam went great. lock along with cam worked well for about 48 hours. Then when leaving one afternoon discovered the lock was no longer connected through the cloud. Called Amazon CS but the representative just read off the troubleshooting sheet I had already gone through, didn't have any ideas beyond that. Will be sending back to Amazon. BTW cloud cam is working well but is basically useless w/o connected lock. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Compatible with big Amazon Echo *by on Reviewed in the United States January 13, 2025* This is the one to buy if you have a big echo (not a dot) since the Echo is a Zigbee hub, or you can use it if you have your own Zigbee hub. You don’t need Amazon Cloud, your echo will detect it.That is if the box says 99140-112The Kevo version will not work like this. You can also look for the Zigbee Kwikset Convert which is the same thing. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hr/products/143388283-kwikset-convert-smart-lock-conversion-kit-amazon-key-edition-amazon](https://www.desertcart.hr/products/143388283-kwikset-convert-smart-lock-conversion-kit-amazon-key-edition-amazon) --- *Product available on Desertcart Croatia* *Store origin: HR* *Last updated: 2026-10-25*
