Does the plastic cave in when the food is being played with?** A: The food does have a small hole in each piece to allow for water to be squeezed out. The plastic is squeezable, but doesn't cave in when played with. It is like a soft rigid plastic. My younger grandkids (10 of them) play with this and love it. **Q: What diameter is pineapple?** A: Hello Amazon Customer! The diameter of the inner circle is 2 centimeters. Is the quality much better than regular plastic food?** A: It actually depends on the food items. The strawberries, oranges, and pineapples in this set do actually have air pockets in them and a very small vent hole. The blackberries are solid. The material used in creating these items is solid enough that the hollowness really isn't noticeable unless you are examining the item specifically for that reason. Even the solid items, though, aren't rock hard and are pliable and gentle enough for small/sensitive hands and teeth (they have a rather velvety plastic feel to them that is soft and very nice).
