## Description

Comfort meets major versatility in this classic water shoe. The men’s Newport H2 showcases the airiness of a men’s sandal and the toe protection of a shoe for men. The siped outsole provides excellent traction by channeling water away from the bottom of the sandals for better grip on wet terrain. While the washable quick-dry straps are equipped to take you from the trail to the harbor, and everywhere in between. Weighing 14.2 oz / 402.6 g (per sandal), and made to last, the Newport H2 water sandals for men are built off KEEN's traditional wider footwear form. KEEN is a values-led, family-owned maker of original hybrid footwear for working and playing outside. Since 2003, KEEN has been creating sandals, boots, shoes, and sneakers in its mission to make the outdoors more accessible for everyone. Every KEEN product is Consciously Created to help leave the planet better than we found it.

Review: Love the Shoes, musings on my experience with sizing - These sandals protect your feet pretty well, around the house and on trails. They are not as good in that respect of course as solid hiking shoes, but they are an alternative, especially for summer. I will say no more on that, other than after wearing them now for 3 or 4 months I have really grown fond of them, and I am particular about my shoes. Open toe sandals are comfortable, but banging your toes is not, nor is hurting yourself because you wore an unstable shoe. Regarding sizing, my foot is a 12, a pretty standard foot I would say. My foot measures 11 1/4 inches, exactly at the standard size 12 length. I have several pair of these sandals now, both in size 12 and 13. Both sizes work fine for me. I actually think I prefer the 12's, they are a bit more solid on my foot. I expect to wear the 13's more often when it is cold with socks, to give me a little more space. But I can wear the 12's with socks just fine. I have not trouble putting the 12's on or taking them off, just push your foot all the way in and the heel strap will slide on easily. They stretch out after you have worn them awhile, I can't tell much difference between wearing a 13 and a 12. In fact to test myself I put on a pair not knowing the size (I have the same color in both sizes). I guessed that I was wearing the 13 and I was incorrect, I was wearing the 12. I have also walked around with a 12 on one foot and a 13 on the other. I found no major difference between the two feet. I also have the leather version in size 12, they seem just a little bigger than the polyester but not enough to matter much. In summary, at least for me, the issue people have about sizing is very overblown. I would get a 12 1/2 if it existed, but I have often felt that way with other shoes. For me it is either a 12 or 13, and generally I prefer the 12. I have enough toe room in the size 12 of these sandals, they fit fine, around the house, walking trails with my dogs, and of course in the water. They really do dry out fast, If they get wet I just let them dry and put on a different pair. 5/5/23....I still feel the same after wearing these pretty much constantly for a few months. You may think that there is not enough toe room because you may feel some sensation at the toe at times. My bigger sized 13's have that same sensation, that is just due to the rubber caps at the toe. I feel no pressure on my toes walking down steep hills, that is the acid test for toe room. I definitely prefer the 12's to the 13's. They stretch out and the 13's can feel just a bit loose. But the 13's are fine, I can wear either with no complaints. 6/26/23...Still feel the same, I have a pretty standard size 12 foot, size 12 in this shoe works well for me. I have size 13 as well but will use those with socks when it is cold, I like the better stability of the size 12. I really love these shoes. I put on an open toe sandal yesterday for the first time in awhile, yeah more comfortable, but banged my exposed foot twice, and that hurts. I am sold on the closed toe. You have to take the shoe off when you get little pebbles or something inside the shoe, but they slide off and on easily. Great in the water, I have never had pain from banding my foot walking the trails with my dogs since I started wearing them, and they really have good support. Dry quickly after being in the lake.
Review: Initial Reaction - 4.5/5.0 - I have not had a chance to wear these extensively other than trying them on, walking around the house and inspecting the quality. I will base my review on initial Fit, Comfort, Quality and Appearance. First, let me say I purchased these for fishing/wading rivers and the hiking that might be involved with those endeavors. The purpose of my review is to mainly assist those in trying to select the right size. Fit: 5/5 - I normally wear a 10/10.5 shoe wearing normal, medium thickness socks, depending on the brand of shoe. II plan to use these only without socks, so I purchased a size 10.5 based on the reviews. They were snug to put on, but comfortable once on. This is exactly the fit I was looking for. I have a wide foot and it was plenty wide for me. There was enough room in the toe cap for my toes. Just be sure to loosen up the bungee strap to assist when putting them on. Comfort: 4.5/5 - The comfort seems very good. The sole has arch support but also seems flexible enough to deal with various terrain. I subtracted .5 because it might have been better to have an adjustable heel strap for personalizing the fit better as the shoe breaks in. Time will tell. Perhaps it isn't necessary. Quality: 4.5/5 - After my initial visual inspection and walk around, I feel these are well made and will last. Subtracting .5 because I did see some minor fabric fraying on the straps. Once again, only time will tell. Appearance: 5/5 - Sporty and attractive IMHO. Can serve multiple purposes.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do they brush against the loins?**
A: Only their corduroy sandals rub and chaff loins

**Q: I was told to order a half size up when ordering Keens. Is this true?**
A: Something is going on. I am a little hard to fit; I have "frog feet" (narrow heel and wide arch/toes) and a very high arch, so I expect some problems. I have worn out about 3 - 4 pair of Keen Newport H2 Sandals and loved them -- they were all in size 12. I ordered a new pair of 12s, just like I've worn for about 10 years, and I literally could not get them on my feet, mostly because of a very tight construction of the laced area over the arch. I tried very thin socks and powdered bare feet, no go, they just would not allow my feet to go in. I sent those back and ordered a pair or 13s. They were quite uncomfortable in general (very bulky and wide across the toe and arch compared to the 12s so I was always getting them snagged on my car clutch and brake pedal. The kicker is that even though they were so large in some places as to be uncomfortable, the 13s were still so tight across the arch that I had a hard time getting my feet into the instep area far enough to pull the heel strap up. When the heel strap did come up, it was and still is uncomfortably tight. The side bands of both sides/both shoes frayed and split within two weeks right at the lace area. They've also given me the first "corn" that I've ever had on a foot, it's right on the outside of my arch, just behind the little toe.
I'm mystified. If I could find comfortable, non-bulky pair of 12s that I could get my feet into comfortably, I'd reorder, but I feel so burned by this experience that I dunno.
I loved wearing Keens for years. What do I do now????

**Q: what is the difference between this one and Newport H2?**
A: H2 is nylon, 'Newport' without the 'H2' is leather. I have had both for years. You can get either wet with no problem. They both dry out fine. You CAN put them into a washing machine, dry them in hot sun if you wish and generally abuse them with no issues. I can wear the Newport/leather in a size 11. The H2 are always too tight in an 11. A 11.5 is a better fit. Overall I prefer the leather shoe -- it streatches and fits better after weeks of break in wearing. I wear them all the time and live in Florida.

**Q: Why do they have an exclamation point on them?**
A: The exclamation point indicates that they feature KEEN's "KEEN.PROTECT" technology: KEEN Patented Toe Protection where the shoe outsoles wrap up and over the toes for ultimate protection.
