Better than a pair of sneakers which will not protect your feet from being stepped on. Additionally, if your sneakers are made of cloth or some kind of canvas your sneakers will not keep your feet dry in winter/rainy weather. And....ugh and euwww....your canvas sneakers will not protect your feet from becoming polluted during your trips to the airplane bathrooms (ugh...dirt, human waste, germs).
