This one is no exception, which is crunchy, sweet and salty at the same time. Each slice has the main outside round from the cucumber, and a filling of likely the pickled leaves of the plant. The two parts taste quite different, so it is like I got 2 pickles for 1. The filling is darker in color, with a sandalwood-like scent, a fairly common flavor in Japanese pickles. The cucumber part taste like the Chinese "saucy pickles" I grew up with (the dark brown kind), just as crunchy with similar sweet/salty flavor.
