The shoe does have a brushed fabric appearance, which is fine by me. It has a short slice of elastic in the rear around the ankle bone which keeps the shoe from flopping about. I really like the fit and the style. I have wide width feet and a particularly weird toe separation which makes it necessary to always have round toed shoes. These are comfy! They have a cushion on the sole that makes it a nice fit. The only negative was that the back part of the heel dug in on one foot, but I think that has more to do with me and breaking them in. I can comfortable wear them all day.
