As far as hardwood goes this mat does have a lot more cushion that your regular mat but you probably still want to find a full 15mm/ inch thick if you want to protect your knees against hardwood. The plus side to this mat is it does give a lot of cushion and is not super heavy as I imagine will be the downfall of those thicker mats. This one is pretty light and comes with straps.Another reviewer commented on the green stains… if you actually look closer at the picture they uploaded its part of the design…. Which is a little odd because it does look like a stain? So maybe opt for a different color. But overall this mat is really beautiful. Easy to use. The mat itself, however, has already gotten "dents" in the foam somehow. I've only done 2 days of yoga and have NOT brought it outdoors. Its been in my home or in the case, but somehow the mat itself is getting permanent indents on it somehow. Not from jewelry/no shoes/etc. Unsure what the cause I, and quite surprised given the amount paid for this mat. I wanted to do it right and get one that would last me, but I'm only 48 hours in and it's already giving me slight issues.
