Review: Delicious! - I wrote an earlier review in which I was upset that my order didn't ship well, and I wrote it before opening the can to try it. The box was in terrible shape when it arrived and the can badly dented so I kept it under close surveillance for a few days to make sure it wasn't leaking anywhere, and then finally I opened the can to sample the oil. Of course, dented cans are pressurized inside, so I lost a big glob or two of oil, but the quality and flavor of the oil is terrific - this year's crop: green, smooth and rich, with a bit of a bite, just how I like it. My one remaining issue is with the shipper rather than with desertcart or the seller, and I suspect that the damages were closely related to the government shutdown, which at that time also caused, in a roundabout manner, a delay in my getting paid even though my employment is in no way related to or derived from the government (outside of paying taxes, of course, but I digress...) When viewed in that light, it's understandable, and probably beyond anyone's control, and hey - "no harm / no foul". Throughout this period the seller was very concerned and gracious even though I never for a moment held him accountable, and just because his attitude was so wonderful, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again, but also because it's a great product at a very competitive price, and the oil is shipped in very sturdy cans that can apparently stand up under what seems to have been extreme shipping conditions. The fact that olive oil is beneficial to my health and absolutely delicious is just the icing on the cake. Thank you, Kouzini!
Review: Want to Boost Your Immune System? - Quality single-estate EVOO can potentially boost your immune system along with things like unpasteurized miso and a few days old biodynamic veggies. Consequently, this is my 3rd time purchasing 3 liters tin from Kouzini since the beginning of 2020. Likes – Transparency/Health Benefit - According to a study from UC Davis, the majority of health benefits of EVOO attributes to its phenol content (& monounsaturated fat being insignificant). They suggest that the quality EVOO can decrease LDL and increase HDL and hence potentially good for your heart. What’s tricky for us consumers is that the vast majority of EVOO products do not disclose their polyphenol levels, which is apparent if you check out products at the local stores. Furthermore, phenol content (and hence the potential health benefits) diminishes over time, but most of products out there do not list the harvest date but the expiration date. Kouzini does provide both. Taste/Value – The flavor is not full-bodied, somewhat fruity and nutty while the pungency is noticeable but not intense. You can pour it over salad, fish, tenderloin, and pasta, but how you can enjoy might be more versatile than the traditional practice. As Japanese, I’d like it over cold inaniwa udon with unpastureized miso and sansho, as it adds oiliness and fruitiness. The advantage of using Kouzini EVOO over the traditional Asian oil such as sesame oil is that the slight fruitiness of the oil rather enhances the sweetness of wheat from udon. Quality miso is too delicate to combine with sesame oil, while Kouzini does not overpower any listed ingredients, as well. Additionally, comparing this product to Tuscany EVOO as seen by other reviewers is misleading, simply because there’s not enough provided information. The tastiest EVOO I’ve ever had was from Tuscany costing around $30 for 250 ml. It was very intense & full-bodied peppery. Why it’s irrelevant to compare it to this Kouzini product, then? It’s because the one from Tuscany was harvested in October and I bought it in November. Given the same circumstance, the earlier the olive was harvested, the more intense the flavor should be. So, if I were to judge the taste of the two, this 3 liter product won’t be relevant but rather their early harvest one which I have not tried yet. Value – This is where Kouzini product excels and what got me to keep repeating my orders. Not just that the quality is fine coming from a single-origin/estate olive producer, the fact that they are directly selling to the consumers means that we are not paying extra to the distributors. I’m assuming we are saving perhaps at least 10-20% versus comparables. Dislikes – As some reviewers have noted, my 2nd order came dented in a way I would not pick the tin had I see it at a physical store while the first one was in a relatively acceptable condition. Currently, the price is $38.99, a buck higher than the previous price, which I take it as a very reasonable premium as (because of what’s happening out there,) the seller directly ships to the buyers and the way he wrapped my third tin was completely different from the previous two and hence the outcome of the condition (mint). So, if you are placing an order as of April 20’, your chance of receiving a dented tin is extremely lower than before. One tip if this is your first time purchasing a tin as opposed to a bottle is that the oil will overfloat and spill if you are to pour straight without a funnel. What you need to do is to crack a small hole on top so the air can circulate. I just use my wine opener and hit the top a few times and seal with a tape so the oil stays fresh. To sum up, if you are into the taste of delicate EVOO and potential health benefits, this product offers an excellent value. The price is a great motivator given the quality, while I think the discount relative to a value is because of the outcome I’ve mentioned which is in favor of consumers (i.e. not like sellers trying to eliminate their old inventory, which seems to be not an uncommon practice in the industry given that the of EVOO quality diminishes). Less than a buck a day for the potential antioxidants consumption is a great deal in my opinion.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the date of expiration for the product now being shipped?**
A: I ordered in 04/2021. The Production Date is 11/2020 and the Best By date is 11/2022. I suspect it will be those same dates for all orders through or near the end of the year.

**Q: Is first cold press different than early harvest cold pressed? thank you!**
A: Hello Linda,
First cold pressed is the pressing process of the olive. No high heat is introduced in the olive oil extraction. The early harvest is referring to when the olives are picked/harvested. Which is earlier in the season. Both are the same cold pressed but the early harvest olive oil is harvested earlier in the year before the olives are ripe. We hope this helps! Please feel free to reach out to us on our website for more information!

**Q: enjoy and regularly buy your fine oil when will the 2022 fall harvest oil be available and shipping please thank you**
A: Hi Roger! 2022 oil is now here! Thank you and please reach out with any further questions!

**Q: What is the polyphenol content of this oil?**
A: Koroneiki varietal has one of the highest polyphenol rates among all EVOO and this oil is the Koroneiki variation. Freshness is also a large contributing factor and the 3 large tins I have ordered have all been very fresh and date stamped.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BEST OLIVE OIL!
*by W***E on July 11, 2025*

EXCELLENT OKIVIE OIL Life long olivh oil lover, over 60 years! This is one of the best oils I've ever taasted. Bought 8X. FRity, fresh, a tad peppery, I even drink a shot or two daily. On a salad need nothing else but salt peper and a litlle lemon f=juice. I cook from scratch every night, this is the only olive oli I use now .Greek and Spanish olive oils are the most vibrant. I'm half Italian, and love Italian products yet prefer the liveliness of this oil.. French olis are too perfumey for me, most other Med oils taste dusty from the desert winds. Buy some today you won't regret it.
