Review: **Hawaiian Paradise in a Cup: Worth Every Penny** - I recently indulged in this Hawaiian Kona blend coffee, and it's been a revelation from the very first sip. With its light roast and whole bean freshness, this coffee offers a smooth, almost chocolatey experience that's reminiscent of serene Hawaiian landscapes. The subtle notes of coriander, macadamia nut, and a hint of mocha in each cup are not just flavors; they're a passport to the vibrant coffee culture of Hawaii. Despite containing only 10% real Kona coffee, the blend is masterfully crafted with premium Arabica beans that perfectly complement the Kona's distinctive taste and aroma. This careful selection ensures that each brew carries the essence of Kona, making every morning a luxurious escape. While the price point of over $70 for a 5-pound bag might seem steep to some, it's important to remember the value of genuine Kona coffee. This blend justifies its cost with unparalleled quality and the promise of a sublime coffee experience. The generous bag size is a practical choice for any coffee lover, ensuring that the delightful journey this coffee offers doesn't end too soon. In essence, this coffee is more than just a beverage; it's a daily luxury that turns every morning into something to look forward to. Its rich, nuanced flavor, combined with the authenticity and rarity of Kona, makes every cup a special treat. For those who cherish the ritual of coffee and the taste of exceptional blends, this Hawaiian Kona blend is undoubtedly worth the investment.
Review: > Very Good Coffee; Very Good Value - SUMMARY The City Roast is a medium to moderately-dark roast, rich coffee, which I would grade as A- (typical American coffee being C). I drink my coffee strong, and City Roast makes a good strong cup. It is full flavored without being bitter. Unlike darker roasts, it is not glazed with sugar (which melts and sticks, like a turd, in your coffee grinder). In short, it is not the very best coffee I have drank, but a very good coffee and the best combination of quality and value that I have found. Normally a coffee called "City Roast" would not have caught my attention, and I would avoid anything called "supremo", but the City Roast was included with the "sampler" I purchased Coffee Bean Direct Assorted Whole Bean Coffee Sampler, 9-Pound Box , and it was by far the best---the only coffee in the sampler which impressed me. I'm now working on my second 5 pound bag. COFFEE BEAN DIRECT Coffee Bean Direct concentrates on flavored coffee (which I loath), decaffeinated coffee (what's the point?) and dark roasts (which I usually avoid). I normally prefer light roasts, but CBD's light roasts (and least those in the sampler) were mediocre, barely up to "Maxwell House" or "Folger's" standards. As a generalization dark roast coffee is analogous to red wine as compared to white wine. Some dark roasts are exceptionally rich and flavorful, but it is harder to find a good dark roast than a good light roast. Intense roasting either enhances the flavor, or destroys it, more often the latter. COFFEE SERVICES The great advantage of Coffee Bean Direct (and other services such as Boca Java {highly recommended} and Gevalia) is that you are assured of fresh beans, whereas you never know how long coffee has been setting on a grocery shelf or in a warehouse. Fresh beans make a huge difference. Of course, that means that if you buy 5-pound bags for home use, you need to refrigerate it and keep it tightly sealed. OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS I've been using the Mellita system for about 40 years, which I strongly recommend Melitta Cone Filter Coffeemaker 10 Cup, 1-Count . I have found that the best artificial sweetener with coffee is pure stevia. Pure Stevia Extract Powder by Kal - 3.5 oz Pure Stevia is the sweetener in the more common Truvia, but without the fillers which alter the taste and leave a yucky residue in your cup. As an extra bonus, Pure Stevia is much more economical.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pleasant earthy beans, low acidity, but it lacks a certain interest on its own - blend it with brighter beans!
*by F***1 on January 3, 2012*

It's so hard to describe tastes, how do I write a helpful review? I like to grind my own coffee right before brewing and I use a french press every day and when I'm lazy and also like to make Turkish coffee on special occasions for 1 or 2 friends or just myself. I like dark (but not too dark, not bitter) earthy brews - I usually steer away from "bright acidity" and "fruity" beans (though when I tastes those I can still tell if it's good coffee or not). I drink my coffee with sugar, but no milk (except sometimes when I'm in the mood). I also don't like overly dark, skunky or burnt coffee. I really don't care about how much caffeine is in the beans, but if you must know the darker roasts have less caffeine remaining, even though they may taste "stronger" :0) Just for reference: I like Peet's "Major Dickason blend" and Starbucks "Verona" blend and Espresso roast, they're not the "best", but indicative of what I'm going for. But I really don't like what Starbucks puts in their cups, which everyone carries like they're wearing a uniform. Anyway, I bought a 5 lb. bag of these Brazilian Santos and also a dark version. I like the dark a little better, but they both taste like versions of itself and are very good, well rounded, solid beans. I ordered these because I can't really find Brazilian beans anywhere locally and also because I like their low acidity. But these beans on their own don't really produce the most complex (or "interesting") cup - I use these to mix with certain more assertive coffees I got from Costco, to stretch them out and breathe a little more interest. I think they're ideal for that, because they're good enough where they don't take away flavor, but neutral enough not to take over the flavor. I don't regret buying these and Coffee Bean Direct is a great deal, but I will try another kind next time - I usually only come back to exceptional brews and I only just discovered CBD, so there's more to try. Perhaps, if I owned a coffee shop or a pastry shop or cafe, I would use these (and their darker version) because it seems like the coffee that would please everyone. These are like home-made chicken soup - impossible to hate (and SO much better than store bought), but also not really a 3-star entree :) I hope this helps, if you have questions I'll try to respond :)
