It is super soft and will feel good on your feet, but there is no padding to it at all. The one thing I do not like is it is very hard to vacuum. Instead i just shake out the rug outside but if you wanted to vacuum it would be very hard to get the crumbs off the carpet. I have not hand washed it yet because many people have said it ruined the carpet so I am to nervous to do it. I just shake it out and when it needs replaced I buy a new one. I did wash it twice, and hung it up to dry and fluffed it out, but it still looked ugly. After my elderly dog decided to pee on it, not once, but twice, I threw it away.
