It was the perfect size for me, held my rolled up raincoat, wallet, cell phone and a few extra little items. It has a low profile and looks nicer than most daypacks/small backpacks, so I felt comfortable using it as my purse in the evenings as well. It says it is waterproof, but I didn't really ever get into a torrential downpour without it being underneath my raincoat. I never had any issues, but would imagine that it would be nearly impossible for a thief to unzip it or cut the strap without my knowledge. Another awesome feature is that you can easily switch up the shoulder strap to the other side if you want to. I changed mine back and forth throughout the trip and also wore it in front over my stomach and on my back, depending on where we were walking around.
