They are very well made. The tips are slightly textured in order to provide a better grip on slippery foods. The dragonfly (tombo) design is elegant and very traditional. The box is decorated with a matching tombo design. I have used them to eat rice, fish, and noodles with ease. DO NOT wash these in a mechanical dishwasher. First, they can easily fall through the silverware basket and end up in an inaccessible spot at the bottom of the dishwasher...possibly even on the drying elements, which would be the end of your hashi. They are also made of lacquered wood, and it doesn't stand up well to harsh detergents. Simply wash the ends with a few drops of liquid dish soap, rinse well, and air-dry. Review: Great so far! - First time buying a pair of chopsticks so I don't have to rely on the disposable ones. So far they have been great! They look quite nice and they have a textured area at the bottom to help grip food. They also come in a nice carrying case!
