I usually have a duvet cover on it but when I wash my cover I honestly take a couple weeks to actually put the cover back on. 100% cotton shell. Not a soft velvety-feel cotton but a crisp cool cotton that you’d expect from your sheets, it does crinkle but subtly. I have had a duvet with the softer feel and no crinkle, I like them both, this one “feels fresher” if that makes sense. Have had no issues after washing. A simple fluff of the feathers brings it right back to the light fluffy duvet I love and expect. (In case any have worries about the weird clumping mentioned in one review) and the stitching is as tight and perfect as it was on day one. It did seem flat when it first arrived but fluffed up beautifully in less than a day. (Blurry low-light picture with my sleepy son for reference 😅) Have never had a feather stick out and poke me (my biggest pet peeve with down, as is my husband’s and not a single complaint from him, unlike with our feather pillows). Color is just as saturated as was on day one, after over a year of use and biweekly washes. I have a queen bed so I ordered a king for the oversized look I desire. I switch between a king and queen sized cover, the queen cover makes the duvet appear thicker and fluffier. Lightweight, I often find myself kicking my sheets and extra blanket down to the bottom of the bed because I prefer the feel of the duvet alone. Feels like sleeping in a cloud. Holds heat wonderfully in the winter and fabric is cool to the touch in the summer. I imagine I’ll be using this duvet for the next 3-5 years. When I do replace it, I’ll be purchasing the same one.
