This is necessary for the band clasp to work and I'd prefer a wider band as a man. But the material is super soft and flexible, way more comfortable than other hard rubber Charge 3 bands.Also, you can see this same product sold by many different vendors (and all with the misleading product pic showing full width band), but this particular seller gives you *THREE* bands for a a couple dollars more than the other sellers ask for just one. I wore it boxing and didn't realize until the next day that the fitbit was missing along with the strap. I thought I lost the fitbit and was going to call the company to tell them the band is faulty and not durable but I figured I'd give the other one in the 3 pack a shot at wearing before I complained. Now that one is tearing down the middle and I haven't even done any physical exercise- it's just crap. If I had actually lost my fitbit for good due to this faulty product i would be really upset but for now im just upset that I can't wear my fitbit bc these bands aren't reliable and im too broke to buy nicer ones. Only one of the three bands connects firmly and can be worn with assurances that it will stay connected.The product is gorgeous, comfortable, but I would NOT recommend buying.
