There was more than enough to do the job without filling it again. I read the instructions after! It said not to keep under pressure while not in use. The nozzle can be positioned to spray up in the air or down towards the ground. There is a red plastic slider which can be pressed in so that the spray will work on its own, I like that! I liked it so much, that I'm thinking of buying another to put pesticide in to spray outside on my hibiscus plants. I have a small spray for that but not as good as this. If you have lot's of plants you may want to buy a size larger. I have two planters with about a dozen herbs plus about a dozen medium sized plants in the lanai and a large umbrella plant, this is a good size for me. It is easy to use because of the pump. This sprayer would be great for spraying pet birds, if you have any. ***UPDATE*** Went to use it recently, but it no longer works. Could be because I left it under pressure, I think that's what happened with my round up sprayer, but I had it longer than two years. Review: I love this sprayer - I use mine every day for work. I use a bleach mixture with an orange Zep degreaser most of the time. But occasionally I'll use it for bug spraying, or use Simple Green in it. Over a while they do leak and won't pump or spray well. All you have to do it take it apart and clean it with warm soapy water. I've done both* of mine a number of times and after the cleaning they work and look like new. I'm VERY impressed with these units, especially given they are designed to taken apart & cleaned to return them to like new functionality. If you use hard, minerally or dirty water in them, it will cause it to clog and need cleaning more frequently. I use distilled water in mine most of the time. Occasionally I need to use what I have on hand. One other tip: near the pump rod opening on the top, where it says "oil", it does need to be oiled periodically. You know it's time when it does not pump up as well as it normally does. I use WD40 which is probable not the best to use, but its what I have on my truck. Triflow would maybe be a better choice, but I can tell you that silicone oil is NOT good. Lastly, if the pump is left out and rain or water gets into the pump (where the oil would normally go), it does not pump well, or at all. But all you need to do is turn upside down and pump a few strokes to get the water out. Then oil. I've never had a sprayer as good as this unit (and I use a lot for my work). This is a quality item, but like any quality tool, it needs periodic care & cleaning. *I lost one some I'm here today to buy a replacement. They are over a year old and still work great after a cleaning. The only negative at all is I wish they came in a smaller size as well. I need a small sprayer that will get fungicides onto the undersides of two or three outdoor roses.** A: This sprays upwards very well. As long as it is cleaned after each use so it doesn't clog, and it's fully pumped up for pressure, it sprays as well upwards as it does downwards. I really like this sprayer. **Q: I am new to this product. Cani use chemical such as bed bugs spray on this product? Is it need to be washed thorughly after use of chemical spray?** A: clean the sprayer with borax ( think 20 mule team) immediately after using it for insecticide and then with soapy water and rinse, pumping the fluid out and shaking like crazy to provide agitation. that will remove most of the residue. the weed killer 24d is really hard to remove and then use some sudsy ammonia instead of borax with weed killers types. you really need several of these and dedicate them to similar uses cleaning as i described. (shaking your borax or sudsy ammonia - soapy water - rinse) **Q: can you use chlorine solution? Question answered. Thank you.** A: I see no reason why it would not work. I don't think I would leave it in the sprayer, but it should work. It handles Roundup well. We do not leave any thing in it. Mix only what you will use. **Q: Can this also be set to a less-misty setting? I have a liquid to apply that is supposed be slightly blotchy, like from a pull-handle spray bottle.** A: Yes. I bought it because I just started vermicomposting, and I like to mist about 6-8 oz. of water into my compost bin a day. The first couple days I was using a typical spray bottle with the trigger pump but this got old FAST- It was tiring to spray that much water with a trigger sprayer and it would also take me about 5 minutes to get the job done. In the interest of saving time and extra effort, I went to Amazon to find a thumb sprayer. One of the first sprayers I came across was this Solo sprayer, and it definitely lives up to its ratings and reviews. It is ideal for watering household plants or for a small garden or any other small operation spraying/misting needs. It is just as powerful as a gallon pump sprayer that you typically see used as a weed sprayer (which this Solo sprayer is also capable of) or a backpack sprayer; the only real difference between them and this Solo Sprayer is capacity. The Sprayer sits less than a foot tall on four sturdy feet, which elevate it slightly off the ground. The spray pattern of this Solo sprayer can be adjusted at the tip of the nozzle to range from a FINE mist to a jet stream and anywhere in between, depending on your preferences. I noticed one reviewer criticized the Solo Sprayer for not being a true mister, but I disagree. Although, this may not atomize the water droplets it gets about as close as you can get with the right combination of nozzle adjustment and pressure. It pumps to full pressure quickly and maintains pressure for a long duration of spray. It is very easy and comfortable to use. The thumb trigger makes it very convenient and it also has a helpful locking mechanism on top of the trigger that locks the trigger down for continuous spray and also give your thumb a rest on long sprays.
