Review: Follow directions - So far so good. Easy to apply. Very low viscosity so it goes on like water. In the attached picture, I did the edges first and then went back to start at the top. You can see the different color where it was applied, but that was while It was wet. Looking forward to my ramp, lasting for years and years.
Review: Great wood protectant. - Awesome product! Much better ingredients than the brand Home Depot sells. I think it has a higher copper content.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can any one tell me what percentage is "Copper Naphtehnate"?**
A: Two quotes from the can:

"Copper Naphthenate (CAS No. 1338-02-9) ... 9.1%*"
"* Equivalent to 1% metallic copper"

**Q: Is this product approved for treatment in vegetable greenhouses?**
A: person below is WRONG (or at least, wrong for the reason they give: ) I just got off the phone with rustoleum and point blank asked them: I want to use this on lumber to build a raised bed garden. is this safe? he said absolutely. the copper based ingredient does not leach into soil or into the root system of plants. he said the only thing they recommend against is treating it in wood that woul then be submerged in drinking water, and I would suspect that is just an abundance of caution. but for greenhouses or raised bed gardens, he said there is no concern at all. an answerer to another question posted this helpful pdf that looks like the product insert sheet http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/6c/6c4778d3-b6fe-4468-944b-80c038ab71e7.pdf and in there it also , among the list of uses, says "planters". I know in this day and age of heightened concerns of "pure" and "natural" etc there will be people like the below answerer who will kneejerk react and say "no way, chemicals!1!!1!" but people, come on. I guess, if you want to go all natural, then weave yourself a wicker basket and tend to it weekly. if you want wood that wont rot that you can plant food next to, use this and dont freak out.

**Q: What can be used as a dipping container?**
A: Yeah I don’t see why not. Be careful not to drip it all over though because it’s very odorous.

**Q: How long does a coat of this last?**
A: This is intended to give cut pressure treated lumber and, I suppose, non-pressure treated lumber, some of the protection of copper compounds used in pressure treating lumber intended for use below ground. It is intended to be buried, as it is in my application, so is not subject to inspection or practical reapplication. I use it to allow PT lumber to reach its life expectancy. My longest experience with the product to date is 5 years and counting. To me it is not so much how long it lasts as that I know untreated lumber in ground contact will be vulnerable to insects and rot.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easily applied, turns wood green, stinks to high heaven.
*by J***Y on August 22, 2020*

I recently had to do a forced remodel of a bathroom thanks to an undetected water leak. When I went to pull the walls apart, I found that the original studs had been coated with copper green, brand unknown. Now since there is not a building contractor in the world that goes above and beyond to do anything more than exactly what is required by contract, i'm supposing that the copper napthenate that the original builders painted on was due to local building codes. So, wanting to stay in compliance and build the rooms back exactly as they were in their original state, I ordered the Woodlife Copper Green to coat the new studs. The product is very thin, goes on with a blackish-blue tint, and is best applied with a two-inch brush. It takes some practice with the brush to get the right amount so that you are not flinging it all over the place and wasting product. Once you have mastered applying the correct amount, it quickly soaks into the wood, and is dry within a few hours. However, it is not completely cured for several days. That being said, during the cure, the stuff will turn green. It will also emit quite noxious fumes. It smells exactly like an auto repair shop, just a bit stronger. Have a fan handy and open the windows for several days. I can't speak for the efficacy of this product. Upon inspection of the original studs that were also coated with copper napthenate, they had rot in them as well, just not as badly as the untreated floor. I honestly don't see where this product adds value or protection, because if your floor has rotted out, you may as well replace your walls as well. Even if the studs have not rotted, they have probably been in the house long enough they have become brittle and will split as soon as you rehang your wall board. Best thing is just to root out all of the wood that has been touched by water and replace it. One small container of Copper Green will coat about 16 studs.
