Exactly like mom used to make. - My mother was from South Korea. Mul naengmyeon was one of her favorites. This one is fantastic. I like to add sweet & spicy pickled Gochugaru cucumbers, green onions with a little bit of gochujang. It's perfect. I use all of the sauce packets for full flavor and top with ice. Don't be afraid to add a little bit of sugar to balance the flavors out. You can also make Bibim-naengmyeon with this. Prepare exactly the same, except do not add the water to the serving bowl. Add both packets to the serving bowl along with gochujang, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, MSG & top with sweet crispy apples (like pink lady, fuji or honeycrisp) , cucumbers cut like matchsticks, sesame seeds and half of a soft or hard boiled egg. I've included pictures of both preparations. Both are delicious. The Bibim-naengmyeon is red, spicy, savory and sweet with very little liquid while the mul naengmyeon is not spicy, slightly sweet, vinegary and soupy. Boil them for 4 minutes and rinse with cold water. Then i mix the broth packet with soy sauce, teriyaki, sriracha and cilantro and 1 cup water. Pour the noodles over and then add ice.
