Review: So far, so good. - I had been searching for over a year for a laptop to replace my aging Lenovo Y500 and this one came the closest to checking all the boxes. It's portable, has good build quality, thunderbolt 3, a nice screen, webcam on top (though I don't typically use webcams, I prefer the top placement vs. the bottom placement which is fairly common these days), has a good video card with decent thermals for longevity, and is easily upgraded (motherboard is not inverted or require keyboard to be removed to access RAM or M.2 drives). I have had my Y500 for about 7 years, so longevity is important to me; I'm hoping that the intel-mandated thermal limits will keep this laptop from burning itself out over the years. I use this laptop as my primary computer at work & home, with some occasional gaming. I have tried out GTA 5 & Red Dead Redemption 2 on this and they both ran great on mostly Ultra settings. The fans can get a little loud, but I think that's to be expected given the 2070 Max-Q that it's packing and the need to keep the GPU to </= 75C. My Y500 doesn't get this loud, but it also runs hotter both when idle and gaming. Though they are a small company/brand, I'm hoping that this purchase turns out ok. I haven't heard anything negative about Eluktronics, so I'm hopeful. One thing that I have had a hard time adjusting to though, is the keyboard. While the key-feel is nice, and the feedback when typing is great, the keys are larger than what I am used to and the spacing between the keys smaller than, for example, Lenovo or MSI keyboards. This has caused me to mistype fairly often, but I think if I continue to use the laptop, I'll grow more accustomed to the keyboard. Lastly, I wish it had a numpad... Though this is quite an ask since most "thin and light" laptops forgo the number pad to save space. I feel like if the keys were a little smaller and keyboard shifted to the left a little, maybe they could have fit one. Coming from a laptop with a numpad, it has been a little bit of a challenge adjusting to not having one and I find myself reaching for a phantom numpad often. I had to install some new drivers and updates from their website after purchasing, but that was not too big of a deal. The sound from the laptop speakers is quite a bit better than my Y500 and I'm happy with them, but given the fan noise when gaming, I'll probably be using headphones anyway. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and throwing in the gaming headset, mouse, over-sized mouse pad, HDMI cable, and RDR2 was icing on the cake.
Review: Very excellent gaming laptop for the money - I'll try to keep this review sweet and simple. I came from using an Alienware m15 r1 with 8750h and 1070 Max q with 144hz display. Display Really good panel with no weird issues and less ghosting than the Alienware m15 panel. Victory for mag 15 Battery life Better than my 90whr battery on my m15. I easily get 7 hours on powersave on mag 15 vs the 5.5 hours I get on m15. Victory for mag 15 Fan noise M15 is better than mag 15 in this category. Mag 15's fans can only match m15 on the standard fan profile. So any other fan profile like performance or benchmark mode on mag 15 sounds much louder than m15 by a good 30%-50% extra noise. I much prefer the quieter whoosh of the m15 fans (even on max) vs mag 15. Alienware m15 is the Victor. Performance This is a mixed bag for me. I couldn't really get stable performance until I reinstalled windows 10 and installed all the drivers. Stock the performance is a little better about 5% vs Alienware m15 with 1070 Max q UNLESS you undervolt the mag 15 and cap the CPU @ 3.6 GHz to allow electroboost to be fully utilized (and it still needs a cooling bad for long term sustained performance, otherwise it throttles down to 1000 MHz on the GPU if it's on max load and hits that 75C thermal limit). It has 15% more performance vs my m15 after tweaks and a cooling pad, without cooling bad it's more like 7%. Victory goes to mag 15 Keyboard It feels really cheapy when you first use it but you get used to it after a while and start to appreciate how much travel and feedback you get from the keys. I like how the fans pull cold air through the keys so the keyboard deck stays relatively cool. This is subjective and depends on individual so I can't say who wins here. Temps The temps are WAY better than m15. You can actually put this on your lap while connected to power and it won't fry your lap. Mag 15 wins here hands down. Speaker sound M15 has better sound but it's not THAT much better in my opinion. Most of the reason I think I'm going to keep this laptop is because it's slightly lighter than m15 (you do feel it less), it's more portable, no sharp corners (super important) and overall I feel like this is a good gaming laptop for a programmer. Easy to get into, repaste or upgrade some components like storage, ram or wifi.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can you add a 2.5 hard drive os ssd ?**
A: Yes you can add a 2.5 HDD if you don’t have 97 watt hour battery. If you order it with a smaller battery you can add M.2 and a 2.5 HDD drive.

**Q: What spec does the ram have? such as cas latency, and what is the highest memory frequency that this laptop support? thank you.**
A: All RAM follows the JEDEC memory standards. The highest frequency supported is 2666MHz.

Thanks!

**Q: It's this one still tax-free? Cause it shows estimated tax of $170.**
A: not sure, but if you’re ordering one they might still be tax free. Just check it out on there website.

**Q: Is there a smaller charger that is compatible for non gaming tasks at the office?**
A: I don’t believe there is a smaller one. But the laptop an power brick is only 4.5 lbs. total. You should get 6-7 hours on a charge depending on what tasks you are doing.
