Review: Works with many MIDI keyboards and then some - I've tested this device with the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band 3 along with three different midi keyboards, including a Wii Rock Band Keyboard, and they all work flawlessly. With a switch on the adapter, the game recognizes what instrument you plan to use for Rock Band 3, and the adapter translates all MIDI notes played into an acceptable note in the game. In the case of the keyboard, which was all I had to test, the game looks for some two octave range to play on, so keeping the default octave range on the midi keyboard is necessary. As for the "whammy", I only recognized the touch strip on my Wii Keyboard as a probable control for modulation, but I had to hold the overdrive button on my keyboard to use the touch strip which was a little bothersome. An overdrive button is included on the adapter, and it also comes with a belt clip, so playing the keyboard with the adapter hooked on my belt was comfortable...if the usb cord was long enough. If you plan to play in a theater or far away from the TV, make sure you get some usb extension cables. Don't worry about the required MIDI cable; you only need enough depending on the length from the instrument to your other hand to access the adapter's overdrive button, so get the smallest Male to Male MIDI cable you can find. As for those controls on the adapter, they're needed to navigate within the Xbox menu and throughout the Rock Band menus. In addition, the Xbox treats the adapter as a wired Xbox controller without triggers, bumpers, or analog sticks. I was able to get away playing a few Xbox Live Arcade titles which did not require those features (and not many do), so it's pretty versatile despite its primary goal being to emulate MIDI devices. If you have some sort of MIDI keyboard that is not officially for the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band 3 and want to play with it in game, and if you're missing a simple Xbox 360 controller, this adapter is worthwhile, especially while the game's still alive and knocked down in price.
Review: Works Perfectly With Cheap Instruments - I had been contemplating purchasing the Mad Catz keyboard for Rock Band 3 for sometime but then having a few keyboards around the home went for this instead and couldn't be more happy with this purchase. Nothing I have is on the official list but reading of others success figured to give it a try. After some initial stupidity trying to get the controller to work, hooked it up to a Yamaha EZ-150 and works perfectly. Of course I suck at it as keyboards were never my thing but adds a whole other aspect to the game and is very fun. Also have an Awowo LD-110 electronic drum that I purchased awhile back for cheap. Having a midi in/out I thought what the heck, hook it up and see what happens. At first nothing but once I turned up the velocity adjustment wheel adjusting the sensitivity it works! YAY!! Played around with it for about an hour and am very pleased with my results using these cheap drums. Highly recommended piece of hardware to enhance you Rock Band 3 playing.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: On the harmonex site they say the drum rocker with the xbox 360 controller is not supported. will this work for the ion drum rocker for xbox 1?**
A: No, because Microsoft requires a special chip inside of each wired controller for the Xbox One. So this will only work for the Xbox 360. There is rumor that MadCatz is working on an Xbox One Midi adapter but at this point it is just that, rumor. I tried to confirm with them and they would neither confirm or deny that they are making a new version.

**Q: What exact does this do when plug the guitar into your xbox?**
A: You have to have the Rockband 3 Fender Stratocaster for Xbox 360 in order for this to work. Any other guitar will not work with it. In order to use a regular electric guitar, you have to have a custom made software program.

**Q: Does this work with a Simmons sd-1000 electronic drum set?**
A: Since the SD1000 sound module has a MIDI OUT connector, it should work. Keep in mind the SD1000's MIDI connectors only work as long as the USB connection isn't being used, so you can't connect the drum set to a computer and the Rock Band MIDI PRO Adapter at the same time.

**Q: The description says this only works with rock band 3, but a review says they used it for rock band 2, does it work with both?**
A: So is confirmed this midi works on Rock Band 1?
