Without even needing direct line-of-sight, this allows us to use the remote from anywhere in the kitchen. There is no lag time between pressing buttons on the remote and the receiver response. I only wish the cord was longer but I made it work by moving the breadbox and receiver closer to the edge of the fridge. We are so pleased with this IR Extender that I am buying another one for a different TV location where we want another 7100 box out of the way too. I might even an extra one just to have as a spare on hand if the need arises; I like it that much. No need to spend $20-30 on the other IR extenders out there. After that if you unplugged it and then plugged it back in it would starting working again. Which, was a pain but it would work. After another week it stopped altogether.
