Before we read the book, I asked my grandchildren if they knew what color a blue whale's poo might be. Surprisingly at 6 and 7 they knew enough to think about what blue whales eat and logically conclude what color the poo would be. I will be looking for more Jenni Desmond books! One of my sons really loves whales and this book is perfect for him. The illustrations are beautiful and really show how big a whale is. We ended up going outside with a long tape measure and marking the sidewalk with chalk to show how long the whale would be (even I was surprised!) so it really got my son interested in learning more. He also loves that the kid in the book is reading the same book we are.
