I use a wide mouth gallon pitcher which works perfectly. **Q: I need to filter micro particles from oil, will this work?** A: What is your acceptable level of tolerance? This device is made to filter food so it is not made for precision. I did not measure it but I used to work in a machine shop and have a good eye for these things. The mesh screen has openings that generally run somewhere in the range of .002-.003" wide but there are random openings that run as wide as probably .010", so you could expect debris as large as that to occasionally slip through the filter. If that's an acceptable size to you, then this device should be satisfactory for you.
