There's a difference... *by K***P on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2019* QUICK TAKE: If all you want to know is whether these TECKIN SP50 smart bulbs work well with Google Home, the quick answer is yes, absolutely. They are a solidly built product and integrate well with Google Assistant via their native SmartLife app. This is my second shipment and I'm pleased with their performance.THE BIGGER QUESTION: Are you looking to manage a lamp or its light? There's a difference.In my house, in some locations I have lamps with regular bulbs that are plugged into TECKIN SP10 Smart Plugs. In other locations I have these TECKIN SP50 Smart Bulbs in lamps that are just plugged into regular outlets. If I tell Google to "Turn on the lights," they all come on just the same. So what's the difference and what's the better method? Two SP10 Smart Plugs and two SP50 Smart Bulbs cost about the same, so it's not a financial decision. The plugs and bulbs work equally well with the SmartLife app, the Google Home app, the Google Assistant and Google smart speakers, so it's not really a technical decision, either.What it comes down to in my mind is whether, in any particular lighting location, you are most interested in using voice and your available smart home tech to manage the lamps that are giving off light, or if what you really want to manage is the light that the lamps give off.For instance, I have two lamps on either end of my desk. I always want them both on or both off at the same time, ideally with a single voice command. And when the lamps are on, I always want them at the same fixed level of brightness. So in this case, it seems the best option is plugging both lamps into a single smart plug (via a 3-plug adapter) and installing regular LED lightbulbs of appropriate wattage in the lamps. I have only one smart device (the TECKIN SP10 plug) to purchase and manage, and only one command to give to control both lamps (without the extra setup to group multiple devices in the app).In a different location, I have a lamp in a corner of a central room and next to a painting on a wall. I want to have the lamp on on cloudy days to brighten the room. When I have the lamp on at night, I want a softer light to enhance the evening mood. I've also found the wall painting shows better when the light on it has a bit more of a yellowish-greenish cast that complements its palette. All that is a lot to try to get right by installing just the proper wattage and color temperature lightbulb and just the right lampshade. But with a smart bulb, I can dial in a warmer or cooler color white at different times of the day, offset the white with a color cast of my choosing, and brighten or dim the intensity as needed. All that comes on top of being able to turn the light on and off in the app or with voice commands. So in this case, a smart bulb (like the TECKIN SP50) is the way to go.The only other decision point about smart plug vs smart bulb is that, of course, the bulb is a one-trick pony. It's a bulb of a fixed size (about the same as a regular light bulb) with a standard screw base. You can't use it anywhere else. With a smart plug, you have the option to plug anything into it — a regular lamp, an LED string, a Christmas decoration electric candle, an electric fan, whatever. It's a much more flexible option, as long as all you need is to turn something on and off.Lastly, one additional benefit of the TECKIN line of products is that their native SmartLife app adds automation and timer functions to any of these devices. So you can set a lamp to automatically turn on at sunset and off at midnight, for instance. That works regardless of whether you are using a smart plug or a smart bulb. ### ⭐⭐ So so *by J***I on Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2020* I've purchased 4 of these bulbs. 2 never worked. So it's a hit or miss. They are bright but they always show unresponsive or not connected on all the apps. In this case, even when the bulb is turned off or unresponsive on the app, the actual bulbs stays on. I can toggle to turn it off on the apps, the bulbs will shut down but turn back on a few seconds later on its own. I run a 1 Gbps connection with wifi speeds averaging around 700-800 mbps on 2.5G. So its definitely not a wifi issue. It's a bulb/software issue. Signal strength is good. No firmware update available and diagnostics on their app will (obviously) show no issues. I would pass on these if you care about automation. I was trying to be cheap but not worth it. ### ⭐⭐ Getting irritated... *by J***D on Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2020* Got two bulbs, both bulbs were found by the smart app fine, both bulbs linked with Amazon fine. Its awesome having control over the bulbs via Alexa. However, one of the bulbs keeps turning back on after we shut it off and its getting extremely irritating because its our bedroom bulb. The smart app says the signal strength to the bulb is fine. Alexa will lower/raise brightness and turn the lamp on fine but it keeps turning back on and it wont shut off.Edit: Both bulbs are turning back on after being told to turn off.
