The cassette goes into the car's cassette player and the audio jack goes into a mobile device like a portable cd player, phone or mp3 player with an older audio output jack. So you can play from your portable device through the car's stereo. You have it the other way around. Hope that helps a couple years later. **Q: does the tape deck still have to be able to play a cassette?
