Seems to be a heavy duty plastic hose, not thin or flimsy. Had to cut the hose to the smallest size but the clamp seems to do just fine and does not leak, just be sure to tighten it really well. I do recommend to move the saddle hook down the pipe so that more of it goes down into your drain. I originally left it right at the end (probably a rookie mistake) and I did have a mild leak. After moving the saddle down, I've got it zip tied in place. I will continue to keep my eye on it for the next few loads to see if there are any other leaks. Be aware that even with the tube cut to the smallest diameter it still sticks out a LOT and may fold over when you get it close to the wall.
