There are no dogs in the world pickier than mine, and whether or not they eat this depends on the meat that is mixed in. You MUST add either raw or cooked meat to this premix (that's why it's called premix) since with the small amount of protein it's not complete on it's own. A little something they love sprinkled on top helps in the beginning too. This is a complete food (minus the protein) so I don't have to worry about cooking and chopping veggies, adding vitamins, etc. Just add either raw meat (I feed cornish hen, chicken, beef and occasionally lamb), diced cooked meat or for a super simple meal a can of the Merrick 96% meat varieties (or similar) and they have a complete, fresh, tasty meal with no nasties to worry about. A bit of canned tripe is also always a great enticement. Mixing up a few days worth of the premix andd storing in the fridge (I nuke it just enough to take the chill off before serving) simplifies it even more. (canned fish such as mackerel is also good but my dogs won't eat that either) I've tried several other premixes (and the Grandma Lucy's complete foods) and my guys won't touch them. I’ve actually tasted it and it’s pretty good. Pre- mix contains no meat. You will need to add meat. My dog loves it and she likes whatever I’m grilling. We usually have enough left over that she enjoys it. Hope this helps. **Q: Since dogs are meat eaters and only get fruits & vegetables from the contents of animals they consume... where's the meat!???** A: You are supposed to be feeding this mix As a supplement to a raw meat diet. But it will say on the back of the package too if you scroll thru the pictures. Your local butcher might offer a mix of raw scraps of meat and organs for cheap or buy ground beef when on sale and freeze it down in portion size. **Q: What's the difference between this and the artesian ?** A: One difference I know of is the chickpeas in Pureformance that are not in the Artisan. I think there are no legumes in the Artisan. **Q: label is very deceptive!! why does it state "no by-products"&"grain free"? by products of what? there's no meat! it should say 'grainfree & meat free'** A: If you are getting premix, like the picture. There is no protein in it, meaning there is no meat. If you zoom in on the back of bag which I believe is pictured. You add one to one. If you are giving your dog one cup of the dog mix, you add 1 cup of meat. If you want this product with meat already in it. Our dog is a picky eater when it comes to vegetables and he loves this stuff. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was perfect for us *by M***E on September 1, 2015* I was looking to place my dog on a raw diet due to his severe food allergies which caused him ear infections and skin rash. However, I wanted to find a pre-made raw food. This was perfect for us. It's a raw food base - just add a cup of whichever raw meat we prefer and he has a well rounded meal. My dog is a large breed, so I use one cup of the pre-mix plus one cup of raw meat per meal (2 meals per day). I also add a chicken liver or two about once a week which boosts some nutrient value. As for crunch, there is none with this food, so every other day I feed my dog a raw meaty bone (chicken thigh, chicken leg, turkey neck, etc...) for the crunch, teeth, and calcium factor. It has been about 3 weeks now. Not only does he love the food, but his allergy issues cleared up within a week! The rash was gone very fast. The ear infection is clearing for sure, but that takes a little longer. He seems happier, more energetic and he is not licking and chewing himself anymore. I am very happy with this food! As for price, it is a little expensive, but not as expensive as other pre-made raw food brands (kibble and/or mixes). Because of the size of my dog (90 pounds), the 8 pound bag only lasts me about 3 weeks, and I do wish it was a little less expensive for that reason. However, I am going to stick with this food anyway because it agrees with my dog and that is what is really important.
