The brace was the answer. It took the pressure of the patella, gave me stability and actually helped with the pain in my hip. Physical therapy had everything to do with my recovery of both but the brace really helped since my work requires me to stand and walk for hours at a time. Needless to say this whole condition arose out of 59 years of classical ballet and pushing my body past gravitational limits. It was fun and I don't regret any of it. Grew up playing a lot of basketball. So in my late 20's/early 30's I suffered patella tendon breaks of both legs about six years apart. To have it just gone one day has been really hard. I've tried other braces, but those are for the inner knee injuries. Not the pressure and support that the surgical area of the patella repair needs. Not being able to move my health has declined and my blood pressure had increased to an alarming status. So I had to make some changes and get back to being active. Most knee braces just slide down your leg and they're all uncomfortable. Not sugar coating it, this one also makes you a little sore on skin it rubs on if wear it all day, but sooooo much better than the ones than fully cover knee, sock or velcro style. It slides a little too but not as much, and can adjust tension above and below knee separately. Wear it all day, yeah going to be a tad sore but better than knee giving out.
