When glazing my cakes, the brush left these wide bristle prints in my glaze instead of a smooth looking finish. By the time the glaze dried and hardened, I could still see bristle imprints. This definitely is a basting brush more than a pastry brush to me. So far it's remained intact even when I gave it the 'tug test'. The last silicone pastry brush I purchased came apart and the bristle section kept falling off the handle so the first thing I did before using this one was to tug (gently) on the silicone bristle to see if it was secure. It seems to be more secure and I expect to be able to work with it for some time to come. I would suggest that manufacturers redesign their pastry brushes in such a way that the silicone bristles are firmly and permanently attached to the handle so they don't fall apart!
