We spent most of our time trying to pop out the pieces without bending the metal too much. We did it mostly by hand, but I would definitely suggest also using the recommended tools. We did use tools to bend the tabs (I don't think we could've done this by hand). The instructions don't say this (not that I saw) but it comes with a few extra pieces of SOME of the pieces. I wish I knew that beforehand because we did break part of one piece and ended up putting it all together anyway because it wasn't visible, but there was an extra piece. It's a little bigger than to fit in the palm of your hand. I would say it's good quality. The pieces fit together well and the instructions are clear.
