This is, absolutely, the best thanksgiving cookbook I have ever read. It's not just the recipes - it's about solving all the difficulties you have before, during, and after - as well as answering all the questions that come up that you never knew the answer. And even then, it has problem solving for the most common mistakes/errors that happens (gluey mashed potatoes, choppy gravy, etc.!).This is a comprehensive, well-laid out, all in one reference. It really isn't meant to be a simple cookbook and calling it so is doing it a disservice. I've never seen everything so thoroughly researched and compiled into one complete volume like this one before. Need to know how to carve easiest? Which items are best made the day before? To brine or not to brine? How to pick the best turkey pan. How big a bird, how long to cook, how to unfreeze efficiently. The keys to savory homemade stuffing? Keeping the vegetables warm while other items cook? Preventing shrinking pie crusts. Sweet potato vs. yam? Even all the ways to make a turkey - from oven or even grill roasting! The book has it all.I've been using various cookbooks and the internet for recipes - trying to piece together a good thanksgiving meal. Never have I had everything in one volume, ready to go and be pulled out a week before the dinner.The book is nearly 300 pages - and absolutely packed. You get your usual recipes that the kids always look forward to - but also quite a few new and interesting recipes to try. Appetizers, sides, and deserts. And then a great section on what to do with the leftovers - recipes, storage, etc.The layout is easy to use and read with copious amounts of large pictures. The recipes are color coordinated to make them easy to use and ready. There is great line spacing between ingredients and lists to make preparation/cooking/reading easy.Highly, highly recommend this book. There is just so much information in there beyond just simple recipes. I am happy to say that I liked it so much that I ordered a print copy (which arrived today). I Love it.From the editors of Fine Cooking Magazine, this book was originally released in 2012. Some of the topics covered in this one are: avoiding dinner disasters (like a frozen bird); helpful techniques; make a head strategies; (6) different ways to cook a turkey; leftover and recipe options and a baking section.There are lots of appetizers to try: I'm planning on trying: Crostini with Beef and horseradish cream, and a Cranberry and Pear salsa from this book. I also will experiment with a few new sides before Thanksgiving and a Triple Chocolate Cheesecake.There are also plenty of soups, salads and gravies; many veggie dishes and sides; different kinds of potato, stuffing and gravy options and desserts to die for -- pies, tarts and more. I liked the section on "continuing the feast", with plenty of ideas for leftovers as well.Great illustrations and simple to understand recipes for even novice cooks. Worth Buying. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fine Cooking Thanksgiving Cookbook *by C***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 4, 2012* I had a smaller than usual Thanksgiving group and hence felt comfortable experimenting with some new recipes. I made an untried recipe (gasp) for the dressing (I made the apple, bacon and carmelized onion recipe on page 67), the cranberry sauce with orange and rosemary, the creamy roquefort dip, and the goat cheese, pesto and sun dried tomato terrine. Everything was amazing and I received compliments galore. My sister in law said it was the best Thanksgiving dinner she had ever had! I did read that some of these recipes had been released in another edition of Fine Cooking.
