But have tested them hooked up to a Flysky receiver, using both 4 cell (at 5.3v) and 5 cell (at 7.2V) NiMH receiver packs. Both worked fine. I only tested for a couple of minutes at each voltage, but did not notice the controller board getting hot with either. I will note that the first one of these I received did not work. It was in a plastic bag, not in an anti static bag. I think is was a defective return. Amazon promptly replaced it. The second one came in a sealed anti static bag. It worked perfectly. So if you order them pay attention to how they come packaged. **Q: When i plug these into my reciever with 4 stips my esc immediatly gets hot. is this normal? i am using these in a hobbyking walrus.2200 3s** A: If you use 4 LED strips, the total current consumption is about 2A. usually, there is a BEC on the ESC like HobbyKing or others, but the max current is about 3A or less. normally the BEC on the ESC will get hot easily when current is higher. So use one of two methods to solve this problem. 1: you can use extra UBEC to supply a 5V power to the light 2: cut the LED strip short to lower current consumption **Q: Volantex rtf p51 mustang 768-1 mm has aux toggle on tranmitter also on receiver an open port why wont these lights work with this transmitter** A: Make sure your toggle switch is bound to the right channel on your receiver. It should work if everything is hooked up properly. **Q: Are these water proof** A: To reduce weight, there is no waterproof layer on the light strip. So the light strip is super light. Normally, if the plane does not land on the river, it will be OK. Bought them for my Areoscout and as others have said channel 6 on the AR631 receiver and bind button to toggle modes and switch on and off. Simple enough. I’d just add that when double clicking the bind button to change modes it will give you a quick preview and turn off until you single click the bind button again. No big deal since I discovered this on the ground and not in the air. So easily toggling around in flight uninterrupted isn’t great if you are counting on them. But that’s why I say it’s a fun novelty item. I wouldn’t rely on them for any sort of navigation. I mounted mine between the CG and underneath the leading edge of the wing. Perfectly visible flying level but will disappear during banking turns. Fine at dusk to extend field time a little but not much else. I might move them to the fuselage and try that. I didn’t bother with the adhesive strip on the LED’s and used clear packing tape just in case I wanted to move them. Don’t know how well that adhesive stuff would stick anyway since it looks pretty questionable. One last thing is I didn’t notice any changes in performance as some have mentioned. The plane flew just as well without them. For the price it’s fun to have and a couple walking in the park got a chuckle.
