It sits in a plastic pot all in a plastic bag. Dry moss is used to pack the box. After un wrapping the root ball, use the moss to fill in the plastic pot when planting the pitcher plant in it. **Q: how big do these grow? would they be alright in a large terrarium?** A: To answer how big these plants grow, the one I got was about 3 inches across (with just a small whorl of leaves) and in roughly a year it has grown to maybe 6 inches across (now with two slightly larger whorls of leaves). Currently my plant has leaves about the size of index fingers and its largest pitchers are almost the size of thumbs. I have seen images of the same species growing to roughly 2-3 feet across when mature, with pitchers nearly as large as small fists. As for a large terrarium, I can only speculate. I've had my own plant growing in sphagnum moss, well-drained and watered just a little bit daily or every other day. From what I've read, they don't like to be waterlogged, but they don't do well with drying out completely either. So, maybe if the terrarium had someplace for the water to drain out to, that might work better. Again, this is just speculation on my part. In any case, I would suggest keeping the terrarium open to give the plant a better chance at catching the occasional insect. Little snacks like that do a lot for the plant's nutrition and healthy growth. I hope this answer is helpful, and I wish you the best of luck with your horticulture. **Q: Will this survive in Arizona?** A: Ours is fine indoors here in Colorado at 9000 ft elevation. **Q: What would happen if someone put their finger into the opening of the plant?** A: Nothing. It doesn't bite. Only traps insects that it will digest over time. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lovely little plant, complete with instructions *by A***R on October 20, 2016* I got this plant almost a year ago now, and it has been living happily in my window ever since. The packaging was great, the potting instructions worked well, and the plant itself is currently thriving. A word of warning though, I wouldn't suggest ordering these plants in the winter if you have the option. Even the relatively brief time in the outdoor mailbox at near freezing temperatures was enough to brown some of the leaves. Of course this was in no way a reflection on the supplier, thus the five star rating. Brown leaves and travel stress or not, the little Nepenthes made a quick recovery with a bit of care. If you follow the handling directions, you should have a respectable little pitcher plant flourishing in your home.
