## Description

Rit DyeMore Advanced Liquid Dye for Polyester, Acrylic, Acetate, Nylon and More, Chocolate Brown

Review: You CAN use in your washing machine, if... - I ordered a fuzzy vest that was supposed to be a khaki-brown color from China. So, I really shouldn't have been surprised when, three-weeks later, it arrived and it was a bright PINK. No where near the color I ordered. Sending it back would be a hassle and a loss of money while finding another one was proving impossible. It was exactly what I needed for a costume but the WRONG COLOR. Desperate, I decided to dye it. Having no idea what it was made out of (again, China), I figured nothing natural and I went with this dye. Only problem? The vest didn't fit in any of our pots to "cook" it on the stove for half an hour. So, figuring I had nothing more to lose (the vest was going in the trash if the dyeing made it look awful or to charity if the dye didn't take), I put it in our washing machine. I ONLY did this because our washing machine gets VERY HOT and has a SOAK setting that allows me to time how long I want to soak an item. I put the vest in and waited until it got to the SOAK cycle. Then I paused it, poured in the dye, stirred it around with a big wooden spoon, and then restarted it. Nothing left to do but hope for the best. The picture speaks for itself. It is no longer a bright baby pink. It is a light brown! I'd prefer it a little darker (maybe doing it on the stove top would have provided such results or using two bottles of dye in the washer), but it is much closer to what I need. So, yes, this product works. AND, if you luck out and have the "right" kind of washing machine, you MAY be able to get away with putting larger items in it with this dye.
Review: Rich color that last - This dye gave my fabric a deep even brown color that didn’t fade after washing. I died my fabric for my prom dress sleeves and tried to get it as close to my skin tone . Super easy to use and works best on synthetic fabrics. Very durable , bright , value for your money and perfect size.

## Features

- Dye synthetic fabric and fabric blends, which include anything with 35% or more polyester, acrylic, acetate or nylon. Perfect for rejuvenating faded clothing, upcycling, hiding laundry accidents and so much more.It is recommended to test a swatch of fabric first.
- With 250+ color recipes available on Rit’s website, it is almost certain you’ll find the right color for your needs
- Get creative and create something unique with an easy dye technique, like an ombré, dip dyed, shibori or tie-dye pattern
- Due to the complexity of dyeing synthetic fabrics, you must use this dye in a stainless steel pot on your stove top to maintain a high water temperature throughout the duration of dyeing. Cannot be used in a washing machine
- If dyeing fabric with less than 35% synthetic fabric (i. e. polyester, acrylic or acetate), use Rit All-Purpose Dye instead

## Questions & Answers

**Q: polyester-cotton hoodie with 2-3 inch bleach spots, will this look even after dyeing?**
A: No, Rit Dye cannot even out bleach spots. Dye is translucent and covers the fabric evenly, so the whole garment will take dye essentially equally. This means that lighter spots will remain lighter, and darker spots will continue to be darker.

Additionally, bleach has a tendency to damage fibers in such a way that they will not take the dye at all, or they will take it in strange ways, resulting in off colors.

**Q: I want to dye a very red polyester plush robe to a burgundy color. Would this work?**
A: It might make it darker, but I doubt it. I dyed a white polyester petticoat and it turned a medium to light grey. Using a purple or navy might work better.

**Q: I followed the instructions but I got patchy spots:( how can I get rid of it? I tried o soak it overnight in vinegar and salt solution but nothing**
A: We are sorry to hear you got some patchy results. This is often due to a small dyebath where fabric can't move about freely to collect the dye evenly. Vinegar or salt, depending on the specific fabric is used during the dyeing process for more even dyeing but will not help after the fact. To get help troubleshooting your project, the Rit Care Team would be happy to help you. You can reach out to them with photos of your project via the Rit website at: www.RitDye.com

**Q: Can I put it in a cloth and rub it on my brown wool cotton felt blend cowboy hat that is slightly faded? Thank you for your time and help.**
A: I'm assuming you are going to dye a cloth to use it to rub on your hat. I have never done anything like that before at all, but if i was going to do that, I would make sure the cloth has plenty of the dye in it. In other words after the cloth has gotten enough dye in it, do not let it wring in the washer. I would take the cloth out while it is still very wet and just wring some of the excess water/dye out of it and leave enough in there to rub your cowboy hat so as to cover up the faded part. you may have to dip the cloth back in the dye more than once to have enough of the dye on the cloth to do the job. Good luck with this and I hope it works well for you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Make sure to combine with their colorstay
*by R***H on January 27, 2026*

Good product. I recommend though that after you dye with these Rit dyes to use their Rit colorstay fixative. It makes a huge difference. I actually even use it if I get clothing that bleeds. It's amazing how much it helps.
