You must remove an e-clip to remove the gas relief on the plunger. I attempted to shortcut this by long soaking for cleanup, but ended up finding the one part that wasn't actually stainless. And in addition, I had to disassemble the gas relief anyway to get the remnants of last use out. The soaking resulted in loss of coating on the plunge head, probably from the salt in the sausage.
