Soft and pliable like silicone not the hard ones that are made of a more solid plastic that can be a little scratchy and tend to trap any muck in your nose when you take them out. I've used these for a few years and they're great but as a smoker working in the building trade they can also get to look a little yucky after a month or two even if you do wipe them off occasionally so I'm really happy to buy a pack of 12 at this price. I've got a very average sized nose, mediums are ok but this 'large' size suits me and really holds the tubes open. I don't snore now and sleep really well.
