He was only 17, with one year left of High School before he would attend Richard Daley College in Chicago. By 1994 Mark relocated to Florida, and with him came the manuscript of his first book. The piece was titled Total Scales Techniques and Applications, which Mark sold to his private students. One afternoon a student's friend came into the music store where Mark was teaching. He watches this every day. It has helped him get started, but was very limiting. An individual experiencing autisim has very black and white concrete thinking. It has taken several weeks now to convince him to go beyond what is in the video. He uses a Hal Leonard beginning bass book. That has helped even more. Bottomline is that the DVD was able to get us started. I'm enjoying these lessons, but not coming along as fast as I would like. I must admit though, I haven't practiced like I should, either. When I lost my first copy, I had no desire to look for something else. Now that it's here, It's like reacquainting myself with an old friend. I'm back at the earlier lessons, but thrilled to be here, and using other books, too.
