Engineered in the USA with a powder-coated steel frame, it streamlines planting by marking, plowing, seeding, and covering in one smooth motion, backed by a 1-year warranty and expert support. ## Description Product Description Chapin’s 8701B garden push seeder takes the back strain out of planting your vegetable garden. The 1.5-liter, rust-resistant poly hopper is supported on a durable powder-coated steel frame. You have 6 seed plates to choose from to accommodate up to 20 varieties of produce. The zinc plow tears through the soil, the seed is placed and the wide rear wheel replaces and pats the soil, all while you’re pushing it through your garden. An adjustable row marker allows you to set it for the next row so you can quickly follow the correct spacing, depending on your seed. Safety Warning Always wear appropriate protective clothing and eye protection when using the seeder. Be aware of the moving parts and keep hands and feet away from them. Do not operate the seeder in reverse. Always check the area around you before starting to ensure no debris or obstacles are present. Follow the instructions in the manual for proper use and maintenance. Keep children and pets away from the seeder when in use. ## Features - 6 SEED PLATES: switch up the plate depending on your type of vegetable, works with up to 20 seed types - baby Lima beans, baby beans, medium beans, medium peas, sunflower, cucumber, corn, sweet corn, small beets, radishes, Brussels sprouts, rutabaga, parsnips, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, rhubarb, endive, carrots, cauliflower, celery, kale, lettuce, onions, peppers, turnips - 1.5 LITER HOPPER: poly, rust-resistant seed hopper holds up to 1.5 liters of vegetable seeds, supported on a durable, powder-coated steel frame; work comfortably with the cushioned handle grips - MARK, PREP, PLACE, COVER: do all four by simple pushing the seeder; marks the row, plows the row with the zinc plow blade, places the seeds and covers the row, with the wide rear wheel, as you walk through your garden - ROW MARKER: adjustable rotating wheel row marker provides correct width for the next row; fully customizable depending on the type of seeds being planted; set it before starting if you’re planting the same seeds and adjust when switching to a new seed - DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED IN THE USA: designed by Chapin engineers in Batavia, NY and backed by Chapin’s 1-year limited warranty - TECHNICAL SUPPORT: always check your manual for proper use and assembly. Is the spread width the spacing between seeds ? is that what is adjustable from 1-4'?** A: The depth is adjustable from 0 to 2.5 inches deep. The spacing is pre-determined by the seed wheel being used. The seed wheels turn completely around about every 36 inches in the row, so you can count how many seed pockets on the seed wheel and divide 36 inches by that number to get the spacing. Sometimes you miss a seed, sometimes you get an extra seed. There are 6 seed wheels. The shape as well as the size of the seed pockets vary, depending on the type of seeds they are intended to pick up. Disk 1: Peas & Baby Lima beans large seeds (12 seeds/rotation = 3 in). Disk 2: Beans, small peas medium large seeds (10 seeds/rotation = 3.6 in). Disk 3: Corn, Cucumber, Sunflower medium large seed (5 seeds/rotation = 7.2 in). Disk 4: Beets, Okra, Swiss Chard small seeds (10 seeds/rotation = 3.6 in). Disk 5: Lettuce, Turnips, Endive, Carrot, Cabbage, Onion, Tomato tiny seed (8 seeds/rotation = 4.5 in). Disk 6: Leek, Asparagus, Spinach very small seed (14 seeds/rotation = 2.57 in) I have used this planter very successfully for corn and peas. It makes easy work of a hard job! **Q: can it go through strong dirt** A: The deeper you need to go, the harder it will be to push it through. I would recommend tilling the soil first so soften it up and then raking it to smooth the surface. I would not want to try to push it through hardened dirt! **Q: I just need the belt and ideas where I can order one?** A: go on line chapin 8701b push seeder belt you will seen belt and price **Q: Can it be used for Lima beans?** A: Hi! Thanks for asking. Yes, seed plate #1 works with lima beans. Give our tech team a call if you have additional questions. Thanks! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ Poor quality *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 27 February 2025* Broke on first use ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ bentagas mucho el tereno para maiz frigol todo tipo de semillas además es una eramienta de trabajo *by on Reviewed in Mexico 10 March 2023* Muy buena compra la recomiendo atodos si ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great planter. Seed plates larger than advertised *by on Reviewed in the United States 10 May 2026* Quality seems really good and assembly was just as the instructions had laid out. It's extremely easy to use and beats doing it all by hand. My old method was placing each seed in the ground by hand which took hours and was brutal on the back and legs. This took me maybe an hour to do 1000 feet worth of pea rows which included troubleshooting and experimentation. The only negative thing I will say is that the seed plate designations are a bit off. I planted purple hull peas which classify as a medium pea to me (largest plate available on this unit) but that plate dropped 4-5 peas in every hole which was entirely too much. I dropped down to small pea which was the next one and I was still placing 3-4 to a hole which is still too many. I ended up using the okra plate which was perfect. Consistently 1 pea with the occasional double pea. But that concerns me because okra seeds are tiny compared to a pea seed. Overall, the functionality was great and I've got a good stand of peas now(a REALLY thick stand for the 20ish feet that I used the medium plate). Only time will tell on how long the little drive belt will last, but it didn't show any signs of wear after planting my garden. Definitely recommend storing it in a shed that keeps it sheltered from the elements though. And will also experiment with adding some weight to the rear of the unit next year to help the rear covering wheel make better contact in the areas where a good bit of grass was still under the soil ## Frequently Bought Together - Chapin 8701B Garden Push Seeder Planter With 6 Seed Plates for up to 20 Varieties of Seeds, Zinc Plow Blade, Row Marker, Powder Coated Steel Frame, Red/Black - Peaches and Cream Sweet Corn Seeds 250+ Seeds - Seed Needs Peaches and Cream Sweet Corn Seeds | 230+ Seeds Non GMO Hybrid Untreated Bicolor Sweet Corn | White and Yellow Mixed Kernals Garden Summertime Favorite | 1.5 Ounce Bulk Package --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hr/products/162842214-8701b-garden-push-seeder-with-6-seed-plates-for-up](https://www.desertcart.hr/products/162842214-8701b-garden-push-seeder-with-6-seed-plates-for-up) --- *Product available on Desertcart Croatia* *Store origin: HR* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
