## Description

desertcart.com: Moleskine Classic Notebook, Hard Cover, Pocket (3.5" x 5.5") Ruled/Lined, Black, 192 Pages : Moleskine: Books

Review: Number one best pocket journal in the world !!! - Perfect size. A man can slip it easily into his pants pocket. I carry it in a small purse. Nice and slim but lots of pages due to thin paper. No prob with bleed thru either with the ballpoint pen I use (a small one I keep in a Taxi wallet which I also carry in my purse). I carry my Moleskine Pocket Journal with me everywhere. I put a small date in the top corner of every page I start in this format: 4/14. Then, if I decide to record something I want to refer to later, I put the date and topic in a table of contents on the first page. Then I start keeping general notes at the other end of the journal to allow for expansion of the topic. I keep my credit cards and business cards in the pocket in the back. Now, about the issue of the spine. It's very sturdy but if you're worried, I recommend the Molecover(tm) made by the company with that name. Google it and have a look. I keep my Moleskine in one and they compliment each other in wonderful ways beyond description. Buttery soft leather, allows intended use of the journal's elastic closure band, thin so it doesn't hinder slipping in and out of a pocket. The Molecover has it's own pocket in which I put a few 3 x 5 index cards in case I want to jot something to be kept separately, e.g., a recipe or formula. I'm so happy with this system. ------------------------------------------------- Update: It's now two years since I started using this lovely little journal and I have to say it's my favorite possession. No kidding, it means a lot to me. Boooo to those naysayers who write reviews saying Moleskines are not sturdy or that the paper is not high quality and bleeds through. Lies! The Moleskine journal wears better than iron and the pages do not bleed through if you use a ball point pen like I do. The paper is very high quality and always accepts the ink, better than Levenger paper which I also use for note cards. A pocket journal must stand up to a lot of abuse if carried every day like mine is. It goes everywhere with me and I write in it every day. Imagine this - I write in it every day and it took me two years to fill it. It's so thin I didn't expect this. I thought I would fill it in a few months. I ordered a set of 3 and have just started on my second one today. The first one still looks brand new except for the writing inside. The cover is still smooth black, in good shape, the rugged (sewn not glued) spline still perfectly binding the pages. It looks like it would last another 100 years carrying it every day. Honestly this pocket journal is a bargain considering what you get for your money. Buy it, you can't go wrong!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how many pages?**
A: The pages aren't numbered but it looks to hold about the same amount as a composition notebook of 100 pages. They are thick pieces of paper.

**Q: How many moles is this?**
A: This has one book included.

**Q: do G2 pens bleed through?**
A: I use G2 pens exclusively with my Moleskine and I don't find that they bleed through, BUT there is some ghosting, particularly with the 0.7 or thicker. The 0.38 is good and doesn't have any bleeding or ghosting but it is too fine a point for my preference so I use the 0.5 and that's a happy compromise. Ghosting is negligible, bleed through non-existent... BUT, to be perfectly, candid, I am almost done with my Moleskine and I won't buy another one. Partly because the paper isn't really conducive to any type of pen other than a rollerball (ugh): I primarily use fountain pens and the Moleskine is horrible for those and the gel pens (I only use G2 when I use a gel pen) leaves little globs of gel on the paper so I do get a lot of smudging. Doesn't happen with my Rhodia books (my preference) or the couple of STM (Scribbles that Matter) books I've tried.

**Q: Does this open to lay flat? Do you need anything to hold it down so it lays flat when opened?**
A: It lays flat once it's been opened a few times. I don't remember having any issues with mine when I bought it, and I have it with me right now!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great pocket companion for capturing notes, thoughts, ideas
*by N***E on April 6, 2009*

I am a pretty big fan of all of Moleskine's products. This is a great notebook to keep handy in a pocket or purse for jotting ideas, capturing thoughts, or managing todo lists. Paper quality is excellent, and the cover is very durable. The elastic band, ribbon marker, and back pocket are all very useful. It is hands-down my favorite all-around notebook. The only downside is that it might be a bit bulky for some front pants pockets. I use a front pocket wallet, and it's tough to fit both the notebook and my wallet in one pocket. That being said, I do think they hit a sweet spot here in terms of size. It is small enough to fit in almost any jeans, trouser, or jacket pocket (in even fits in my shirt pocket), but it's still large enough to do some serious writing/brainstorming, or even sketching. Consider using a full two page spread as one "page" if you need more room. It's true that there's a lot of unneeded hype (encouraged by parent company Modo e Modo) surrounding the history of the notebook, but in my opinion the quality of paper and construction is unsurpassed, and definitely makes this product worth the price. Overall, I love this notebook...I've bought many over the years, and I will probably continue to buy them for a long time to come.
