## Description

From the Manufacturer The Verbatim AZO recording layer gives our DVD media the competitive advantage-the patented coating delivers protection that lasts generations and provides ultimate resistance to UV light damage. That's why Verbatim's been recognized as the No. 1 Optical Brand in the World*--we consistently provide optical media of the highest quality and compatibility. When drive manufacturers test their products for maximum performance, they use Verbatim--so why wouldn't you? Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM), Verbatim's parent company in Japan, brings extensive technological research and development to the table. Core technologies, like the AZO recording layer give Verbatim an offering like no other optical manufacturer. This unique and ultra-stable layer strongly resists UV light, withstands high laser and rotation speeds on newer drives and ensures compatibility with current DVD standards. Verbatim's AZO recording layer not only withstands the extremely high laser and rotation speeds of newer drives, it also maximizes their performance. Verbatim paid particular attention to the durability and light fastness of AZO; tests show that it is more stable than most recording dyes and the least affected by ultraviolet light. AZO also offers high sensitivity for reliable high-speed recording and high reflectivity to eliminate read errors. The thinness of the recording layer is also critical. The thinner the layer, the higher the sensitivity and power margin; therefore, the better the DVD works for high-speed recording. What does all this mean for you? Verbatim AZO technology translates into optical products that cost just a little more but are worth the slight difference. They are products you want-offering reliability, high read and write performance, high-quality photos and sound and superior archival protection that lasts.Features Warranty - Verbatim manufactures our DVDs to meet our strict quality standards. We stand behind the quality of our products-and our Limited Lifetime Warranty proves it! Compatibility - our online reviews say it for us; we make DVDs that work--no coasters! Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM), our parent company, has long-standing relationships with drive manufacturers who use our products to test their performance, making Verbatim DVDs the most compatible in the industry.About Verbatim Verbatim provides technology you can trust-we've done so for over 40 years. Review: Great Discs - The mark of a great disc ... pull it out of the stack three years later and it reads just fine.
Review: Reliable Workhorses for Archiving and Backups—They Work Exactly as Advertised! - In an era where everything's streaming or cloud-stored, I've found myself reaching for physical media more than ever for irreplaceable backups—like family videos, scanned documents, and bootable software ISOs that I don't trust to the ether. That's why I grabbed this 50-disc spindle of Verbatim DVD+R blanks, and let me tell you, they work as advertised: consistent, hassle-free performance that gets the job done without the drama of coasters piling up next to my burner. As someone who burns dozens of discs a year for work and personal projects, these have become my go-to for their no-nonsense reliability and that signature AZO dye technology that promises longevity. What stands out right away is the build quality and ease of use. The silver-topped discs arrive neatly stacked on a sturdy plastic spindle that keeps them scratch-free during storage—I've knocked the whole thing over twice (oops), and not a single one got marred. Pop one into my external USB DVD writer, fire up ImgBurn or Nero, and they're writing at full 16x speed without a hitch, holding a solid 4.7GB each. I've filled up half the pack already: archiving wedding footage from my old camcorder, creating data discs for client handoffs, and even some music compilations for road trips. Readback is flawless on everything from my aging Dell laptop to the home theater Blu-ray player—no errors, no dropouts, and the AZO dye ensures they hold up over time (I've got discs from a couple years back that still play like new). Verbatim's reputation for using superior, patented organic dye means less degradation compared to those bargain-bin brands that fade after a few years or fail mid-burn.Versatility is another plus—these play nice with both Mac and Windows setups, and they've handled everything from video TS folders to simple MP3 rips without compatibility quirks. The 50-count spindle is a sweet spot for bulk buying: enough to tackle a big project without overwhelming my desk space, and at this price per disc, it's cheaper than printing labels or outsourcing to a service. If you're dipping into disc duplication for the first time, they're forgiving too—no special surface prep needed, and the printable side (if you upgrade to the right variant) takes inkjet labels beautifully for that professional touch. That said, I'm holding off on a full five stars because, in my experience, they're not quite as robust for heavy re-writes or if you're pushing exotic formats (like some obscure video codecs that demand perfection)—one disc out of 50 had a minor read stutter on an older player, though it burned and played fine elsewhere. It's a nitpick, really, and nothing a quick verify pass in software couldn't catch. Compared to Taiyo Yuden greens (RIP) or even Memorex, these Verbatims strike the best balance of availability, performance, and peace of mind.Bottom line: If you need dependable DVD+R discs that work as advertised for archiving, sharing, or just hoarding data against digital doomsday, this spindle is a smart investment. They've saved me headaches and time, and I'll be grabbing another pack soon. Solid choice for anyone still waving the flag for optical media!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these DVD's rewritable? They have the "RW" on the case but the description says "write once".**
A: No they are not rewriteable. In this case the RW signifies read-write. That means you can read from them and write to them. This item is marked DVD+R. If they are marked DVD+RW they would be rewriteable. They have to have the RW behind the disc description. Ex. CD-RW, CD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW would signify all rewriteable disc's.

**Q: What is the difference between "Branded" and not?**
A: Verbatim does not actually manufacture their own discs. They also use 2 different manufacturers that I am aware of. The superior quality Verbatim AZO discs, are manufactured by Mitsubishi, which should be the product on this page. The Verbatim DataLifePlus/DataLife Series are a lower quality product, manufactured by CMC Magnetics. Neither type of disc are actually manufactured by Verbatim themselves. This is a very common practice among most CD/DVD/BD recordable disc brands.

**Q: Verbatim life series dvds are reported to be lower quality and less reliable. i don't want life series. are these life series dvds?**
A: I don't remember them having "Life Series" on the label, so I doubt it, but in any case, I used them ALL without one problem ~ THEY WERE FLAWLESS!

**Q: What color are the backs of these discs? Like the side you would not write on/label. Thanks!**
A: Actually the backs of DVD's and CD's is virtually clear. You are looking at the backside of the Label area. The data material is behind the label, NOT on the back. This is why you should NEVER use a ball-point pen on the label, and NEVER scratch or damage the label side of the media. A challenge for you.... take an old cd/DVD and scratch through the label carefully. You will see the other side of the DVD and you will see light through it. You can almost see items you place near the scratched off area. After doing this, however, the disk is now ruined.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Always reliable high quality discs
*by B***Y on October 17, 2012*

Verbatim is the brand I always rely on for all my recordable discs. Years ago I tried other brands when on sale like Memorex, HP and Sony and always ended up with many coasters. I also have done my research and on the top of every list of the most reliable recordable discs there is Verbatim. It is stressed that it must be the Verbatim discs manufactured in Japan and that is indeed what you get here. With this recent 50 dvd disc spindle I have already used half of the discs and have not had a single error disc. And this has always been my experience with Verbatim. It's great that Amazon has them here at such a great price but even if they were more expensive Verbatim is the only brand I will now use. I honestly believe if people are having continuous problems with these discs that it is likely the problem is with the software you are using to burn your discs rather than with Verbatim. This high recommendation I am giving is not only due to my experience with this recent 50 disc spindle but looking at my history with Verbatim over the years. Always reliable and never a problem. Also everything they promise in their detailed item description is true. These discs burn at a very high speed and get done quickly which definitely helps make volume disc burning go by much faster. And the quality of the video on the discs is always excellent. When making a copy of a disc I can hardly tell it is a copy. The transfer looks almost exctly like the original and not a second generation copy. I went into such detail here for there are so many brands out there and such varying prices and promised guarantees by companies that with my long history with Verbatim and my success with all their recordable discs I hope my experience can help others. Highly recommend.
