The blade doesn't spin as fast as commercial slicers and it doesn't cut as cleanly either. I have marked it down a star because the blade is serrated (to cut bread etc.) but that and the lower speed means that it does produce crumbs of meat when slicing joints and you end up with some crumbs as well as slices. A non-serrated blade wouldn't do this, but then the blade would have to spin faster which would potentially be less safe.
