I saw this descender and the reviews left and decided this was perfect for him. I was even more pleased when it arrived. It is heavy duty! Made well, and is perfect. The packaging is perfect for a gift and boxed well. The color is a nice blue, and adds flare to the climbing set up. This item is anti rust, which is good as he does climb in the elimates. They don’t have a lot of experience yet with knots and using the equipment so I picked up a few things for them to practice at home. If you go to a climbing gym, do check the requirements for equipment before you purchase if you would like to use it there. Our gym has very specific brands that they will allow. That was not important to me. They have the equipment that they need at the gym, I just wanted something affordable for them to practice and have fun on their little climbing wall. This descender is solid and functions smoothly. Photos from other reviewers were very helpful. The product is surprisingly good quality for the price. The visor attaches easily and removes quickly if you want it out of the way using magnets. The chin strap is also fully adjustable and well designed. There are also padding inserts inside the helmet that are removable to adjust for your unique head shape.
