The professional series Probe-Pro Tone Tracer traces non-active wiring when used with Toner-Pro Tone Generator (VDV500-063, sold separately). Review: Works Great w/ Klein Scout Jr. 2 Tester! - I already had the Klein Tools Scout Jr. 2 tester, and needed to track down some Ethernet cables (CAT6a). I’m new to this type of tool, so I first tested with my laptop’s flat Ethernet cable. I connected the tester to its test plug using the flat cable, and toned each wire inside it. The probe detected the tone of each wire 1 through 8 of the flat cable (left to right). Lo, Hi, and LoHi. I have a 8 PoE camera CCTV system with cables running inside conduit. The cable that I was tracking down had a 1,2,3, and 6 open failure. So this probe and the tester will allow me to tone and track down the bad cable and also where the failure occurred. This is a must have tool, even for the casual DIY like myself.

**Q: Will this work with a vdv501-123**
A: I you mean - Will it work with the Klein Tools VDV501-"823", the answer is Yes it will.

**Q: I am trying to find a cable TV coax cable in my walls. Can it find that?**
A: Probably but not by itself. The VDV500-123 is a signal receiver; you will also need a transmitter. Using my VDV-commander for the transmitter connected to one end of the dead cable I was able to detect tone about 6 inches from the cable. Depending on thickness and composition of your walls, it should work.

**Q: Will this pick up tone from a Fluke TS-90?**
A: It should.  It picks up four (4) different tones that another Klein device emits up to 1500mhz and it shouldn’t be frequency sensitive.

**Q: Will this work with the klein vdv526-200 lan scout jr. 2 data cable tester?**
A: Yes, it will! I use it often to trace cables and it does a great job.
