I wanted to install one in my car after the thermostat stuck and it overheated. No dash lights came on at all during that event. This did the job perfectly and is still working nearly two years later. I purchased the radiator hose adapter separately and had to drill and tap it with a npt tapered tap. The reading shifts slightly with the outdoor ambient seasonal temps, but it'll still let me know if something drastically goes wrong and that's all I needed it to do.
