I went to plug the camera in, and the port as well as the power switch popped right inside the body of the drone. We decided to play with it anyway, and fix it later. We had a great time for about a half hour when two motors stopped working. Needless to say I wasn't happy after that.I got in touch with the Amkooku corporation. Made them a short video, and sent them the link. Within a couple hours they got back with me. They put $12 back on my account as payment for me repairing the camera/ power switch switch, and are sending me two motors which are simple to change. I just have to return the defective ones. In essence with the $12 refund this Syma X5SC-1 only cost me $40. Well worth it.I do however agree with the people who prefer the Syma X5C-1 in some respects. That is the drone I use. Me personally I believe it handles a lot better. However, don't think you're going to buy either of these drones, and have a trouble free good time.They both require basic technical skill to own. Within 2 days all 4 of the original motors on my Syma X5C-1 had to be replaced. It's fairly easy easy to do as long as you have minimal wiring experience.I've been playing on the new motors for about a month, and only had to re-replace one. Several other smaller parts have broken or wore out. But the parts are really cheap. I advise buying lots of extras if you want to keep your drone in the air at all times. Honestly, to me half of the fun of owning my drones is fixing them when they break.Unless you plan on putting your drone on a shelf, and just looking at it, you will have to fix it occasionally. If that's not fun or even OK with you find a different hobby because this one isn't for you. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good photo drone, good value for the price *by D***E on June 25, 2016* Stable, nice flier, It seems to be designed more as a photo drone than something to do 'tricks' with, and that's what I wanted anyway. It's not very fast, but that's OK. It might be better if the battery charger was something more substantial than a USB cable. That takes about 2 hours to charge, and I'm sure a lithium battery with the current capability needed to fly a quad copter could be charged in half an hour. The prop guards that came with it were white, not the same color as the drone, but that turned out to work for me. I also got a crash kit, which had black prop guards, so I put 2 white ones on the front, and 2 black ones on the back. Much easier to tell which way it's pointed while flying when you can't see the LEDs. It was not damaged by a few bad landings I did, including one where it actually got flipped over. It seems sturdy and well made, even while being surprisingly light. On my third flight, I took a nice photo of the neighborhood. For this price, the photo and movie quality is impressive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ but it has a better pinion gear system *by W***F on June 17, 2015* The X5SC is almost the same as the X5C1, but it has a better pinion gear system; however, it cannot be replaced as easily as the X5C1 can be. The rumors of the X5SC not being able to fly as well in the wind are true. I have experienced this problem. It seems the maximum angle of attack is much less in this model. Flying the SC in High mode is like flying the C1 in Low mode. You just can't battle the wind so it's better as an indoor or calm day flyer. I solved the problem by replacing the SC board with a regular C1 board. Now I have the maneuverability of the C1.Things I like: the pinion gears have covers to protect them; the battery compartment is bigger so higher mah batteries fit easily; the landing legs are longer; and it is easier to take apart and put back together.The motors are the same coreless type, but are bigger and measure 8.5mm x 16mm. I had one burn out and replaced it with a 7mm x 20mm by wrapping some electrical tape around it to make it fit.
