## Overview

The 5.2V@3.5A 17.5W Power Over Ethernet (POE) HAT is engineered for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and Pi 3 Model B+, providing a powerful and efficient solution for powering your projects. With compliance to IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at standards, this HAT ensures electrical isolation and stability, making it a must-have for any serious Raspberry Pi enthusiast.

## Description

CMC TECH Power over Ethernet (5.2V@3.5A 17.5Watt) add-on board (HAT) for the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. Use this HAT to power a Raspberry Pi via an Ethernet cable, removing the need for a separate power supply, an ideal solution for Pi cluster, embedded and IoT projects. means that the HAT is capable of providing all the power needed for running your Raspberry Pi. You will need power sourcing equipment to power your Pi. This is either provided by your PoE network switch or with power injectors on an Ethernet cable. IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at PoE standard with Section 33.4.1 Compliant Required 33.4.1 – Isolation The PSE shall provide electrical isolation between the PI device circuits, including frame ground (if any), and all PI leads. The PD shall provide electrical isolation between all external conductors, including frame ground (if any), and all PI leads. Ubiquiti, other Passive PoE" (DC 24V or 48V) is not standards-compliant and may cause damage to equipment. We found a few so-called "Smart PoE Switch" with external power adaptor are not truly IEEE Compliant. Verify your PoE Switch specification before purchasing this unit.

## Features

- Output up to 5.2V@3.5A (17.5Watt): CMC PoE HAT is capable of providing all the power needed for running your Raspberry Pi with USB storage and other peripherals up to 5.2V@3.5A (17.5Watt). Unlike most other PoE HAT with output only 5V2A or 2.5A.
- Compact Low Profile design: Idea for Raspberry Pi Cluster.
- For Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and Raspberry Pi 4, Not Compatible with Pi 3 and older.
- IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at PoE standard with Section 33.4.1 Compliant Required. 33.4.1 – Isolation The PSE shall provide electrical isolation between the PI device circuits, including frame ground (if any). Works well with Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and raspBerry Pi 4

*by L***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2019*

Test the POE hat for two days. It works well both with raspberry Pi 3+ and raspberry Pi 4. It supports all the POE switches in my hand including 802.3af and 802.3at POE switches. Of course since it rates at 17.5W, if you want to use the full power capability from this POE hat you'd better stick with 802.3at (25.50 W) rather than 802.3af (12.95 W). However I think it will be fine for raspberry Pi 3+ no matter what kind of POE switch you have.I did the stress test on the 802.3at POE switch with raspberry PI 4, it passed all the tests I put in including cpuburn and some simulator game plays. During the test I hooked one keyboard, one mouse and one external 2.5' inch USB hard drive. I think the power from this POE hat is enough for all kinds of tasks for raspberry PI 4. I am very pleased with this. It did run pretty hot during stress test. If you want to do similar test or you wanna use it under heavy load, do remember adding a heat sink and/or cooling fan for you raspberry Pi.I also tested the power quality by measuring the ripple with a scope during stress test. The RMS is around 6-7mV and P-P noise is less than 100mV. I think it is good for long term use as well.Highly recommended if you want to put POE capability to your raspberry Pi 3B+ or 4. If you use your raspberry Pi as a mini-server or surveillance system it would be very useful. I think with this POE hat you have power to add a hard drive to you raspberry PI for long term use without and issue.

Plug and play, extremely reliable, smart design

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2020*

Love how this PoE hat fits over the pi. Reliable, fast speeds, and >3A power rating complying with 802.11c standards; perfect for the Pi 4. Extra headers on the PoE hat allow for easy rerouting of peripherals/fans (3.3V and 5V with ground options).

    No ethernet connection

*by K***N on Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2020*

This thing worked to power up a Raspberry PI 4b just fine but the ethernet port would not work most of the time. Sometimes it would come up after a couple minutes, sometimes it never would. Removing the Poe hat and using the regular power supply, the ethenet port works just fine. I was plugging this into a UniFi 8 port Poe switch rated for 60 watts. I tried everything I could find on the internet trying to reset the eth0 once it was booted up but it made no difference. I am returning this unit and going to try a different brand.
