The Weber branded griddle costs $30 more (shipping for this item was $20) and it has a porcelin coating. I wanted something closer to cast iron, so this fits the bill. It's very heavy and fits perfectly as a replacement for one of the grills in my Weber. It's solid steel and works great. I've only used it a few times, but it will season nicely over time. Just season it as you would a cast iron pan. It can also sit on top of one of your grills if you want. I wanted a griddle to have more versatility for outdoor cooking. My wife and I were in Australia and New Zealand last year, all the the bbqs there had griddle inserts which was very convenient. Because it's a solid surface, all the heat from the bbq flame is directed to it so it heats up faster than the grills so as lots of the heat is lost between the grills. ### ⭐ Its just a piece of steel *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2020* no cooking groves or lip it doesn't fit properly. Yes it matches the description so read carefully but in real life its just a piece of steel that has been half assed cut to fit the dimensions of the description.
