I don't trust the glass base one's as if it should get smashed the whole unit comes crashing down, T.V. and all. It is standing on thick pile carpet and I thought I might have to secure it with a bracket to the wall for extra safety, but it doesn't need to. It's very sturdy. My only gripe is that if you're planning to use the base as a shelf as I have done, there is no hole at the bottom for cable management. There's one on the back at the bottom but it doesn't go through to the front. Very sturdy, well made and relatively easy to assemble. The instructions are fairly easy to follow and there are images provided to assist in the process. Lots of choices available as to which height you wish to have it at. As can be seen from the picture, I opted for a low height. There is a nice swivel option on the stand which enables you to tilt it from side to side.
