At first I ordered the next size up which I considered modifying (I couldn't return because I had opened package before I realized my mistake). In the end I decided it would just be easier to order the correct size. They snapped right in using a little friendly persuasion with a rubber mallet. I was able to snap the casters in and everything works fine. Nice snug fit, they should outlast me. Oh, by the way I used them in an old iron bed.

Instead of throwing out an older tubular chair, we purchased these inserts and bought some casters and made an unusable chair into one of value. These inserts are easy to slide in the tubular legs and look as if they will last for quite a while. They are a reasonable alternative to spending additional dollars to purchase new equipment.
