The long side is 66 inches. The short side is 28 inches. I cut some off each end because my tub is not as long as 66 inches or as wide as 28 inches. **Q: Can the size be cut down or modified?** A: Needs to cut down the size **Q: I want to use this item in my laundry room. It is very light and rock solid when hung, so there is no need for a hanger support rod unless you plan to use a heavy shower curtain and liner. This rod comes in (3) pieces...(1) straight piece with a 90 degree bend and (2) 24" long straight pieces. These (3) pieces can be assembled in different configurations and/or cut with a hack saw or miter saw with a carbide blade to achieve an infinite number of assembled dimensions. I configured mine to be 33" x 45" to fit a 3' x 4' dog wash station that I built and it works great.
